How to Apply for Indonesia eVisa – Step-by-Step Guide 2026

Applying for an Indonesia eVisa online is a straightforward process that takes around 10-15 minutes. The Indonesian government offers two official portals: evisa.imigrasi.go.id for the C1 Visit Visa and molina.imigrasi.go.id for the eVOA (B1). This step-by-step guide walks you through the entire application from start to finish.

Before You Start – What You Need

Gather these documents before beginning your application. Full requirements are listed on our Indonesia eVisa requirements page:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates, with 1+ blank visa page
  • High-quality scan of passport bio page (JPG/PDF, under 500KB)
  • Recent passport-size photo (white background, JPG format)
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel confirmation or host invitation letter)
  • International credit/debit card (Mastercard or Visa) for payment
  • Valid email address

Step 1 – Choose the Right Visa Type

Decide which visa type you need before starting the application:

  • eVOA (B1): For stays up to 30 days (extendable once for 30 more days). Apply at molina.imigrasi.go.id. Cost: IDR 500,000 (~$32 USD). Available for 90+ nationalities.
  • C1 Visit Visa: For stays up to 60 days, single entry. Apply at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Cost: IDR 500,000.

Most tourists choose the eVOA (B1) as it offers flexibility with the 30+30 day structure. Check if your nationality is eligible on our eligible countries page.

Step 2 – Create Your Account

  1. Go to molina.imigrasi.go.id (eVOA) or evisa.imigrasi.go.id (C1 eVisa)
  2. Click “Register” and enter your email address
  3. Verify your email via the confirmation link sent to your inbox
  4. Log in with your new credentials

Step 3 – Fill in the Application Form

  1. Click “Apply for New Visa” and select the visa type (B1 for eVOA)
  2. Enter personal details: full name as in passport, date of birth, nationality, passport number, expiry date
  3. Enter travel details: arrival date, port of entry, accommodation address in Indonesia
  4. Upload your passport scan – make sure all text is clearly visible
  5. Upload your passport-size photo – white background, face clearly visible, no glasses
  6. Upload flight itinerary and hotel booking confirmation
  7. Review all information carefully before proceeding

Step 4 – Payment

The fee for Indonesia eVOA is IDR 500,000 (approximately $32 USD). Payment options on the official portal include:

  • SIMPONI – Indonesia’s government payment gateway (requires Indonesian bank account)
  • Mastercard or Visa international credit/debit card
  • Virtual Account payment

For full fee details, visit our Indonesia eVisa fee page. After successful payment, you will receive a payment confirmation email.

Step 5 – Wait for Processing

Standard processing time is 3-5 business days. In practice, many applications are approved within 1-2 days. You will receive an email notification when your visa is approved or if additional information is needed.

Check your spam folder if you do not receive updates. You can also log into the portal to check application status.

Step 6 – Download and Print Your eVisa

  1. Log into your account once you receive the approval email
  2. Download your eVisa PDF document
  3. Print a copy or save it to your phone (screenshot works too)
  4. Present the eVisa alongside your passport at immigration

At the Airport – What Happens on Arrival

With your eVOA pre-applied, you may use the automated e-Gates at major Indonesian airports (Ngurah Rai Bali, Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta, Juanda Surabaya) if your passport is biometric. Simply scan your passport and look at the camera – clearance takes around 30 seconds.

If e-Gates are not available, proceed to the immigration counter, present your passport and eVisa printout, and receive your entry stamp. See Indonesia entry requirements 2026 for more arrival information.

How to Extend Your Indonesia eVisa

The eVOA (B1) can be extended once for 30 additional days at a local immigration office (Kantor Imigrasi) in Indonesia. Apply for the extension at least 7-14 days before your current visa expires. The extension fee is IDR 500,000. See the Indonesia eVisa validity page for extension details.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get Indonesia eVisa approved?

Standard processing takes 3-5 business days. Many applications are approved within 24-48 hours. Apply at least 7 days before your travel date to allow buffer time.

Can I apply for Indonesia eVisa at the airport?

Yes – you can still purchase a Visa on Arrival (VOA) at the airport counter on arrival for IDR 500,000. However, this means joining potentially long queues and you cannot use the faster e-Gates. Applying online before your trip is strongly recommended.

What if my Indonesia eVisa application is rejected?

If your application is rejected, you will receive an email with the reason. Common reasons include incorrect document uploads, passport with insufficient validity, or incomplete information. You can reapply with corrected documents. See our Indonesia eVisa rejection guide for tips.

Can I apply for Indonesia eVisa on behalf of someone else?

Yes – travel agents and third parties can submit eVisa applications on behalf of travelers. The application must use the traveler’s personal details and documents. Each person requires a separate application and payment.
